Leicester City have announced record losses of 92.5m for the 2021-22 season after forgoing a big-money sale and retaining their star players.
Cityssummer transfer plan since returning to the Premier League has usually included the departure of a high-profile member of the squad to one of the so-called big six, but in summer 2021, they kept all of their star names while still recruiting.
They made just 9.2m in player profits that summer, with their most significant sale seeing young Ghanaian winger Kamal Sowah join Club Brugge. The accounts show they then spent 67.1m on player registration.

At the time, it seemed like a bold step, Leicester City taking a big stride towards their ultimate aim of bridging the gap to the Premier Leagues elite. Now, it seems like something that will never be repeated, writes Jordan Blackwell.
Citystransfer business was understood nationwide. Every summer, they would sell one of their star players to a so-called big six side and invest the funds into strengthening the squad in multiple areas on talents who they could develop.
Then, in 2021, they took a different approach. None of the big names left. However, the same spending still took place with the idea that, following the FA Cup triumph and a second successive fifth-placed finish, City could make the leap to top four at the third attempt.
The breakdown of Jack Harrisons January transfer to Leicester City may mean Brendan Rodgers has to change his formation against Chelsea this weekend.
Cityhad hoped to bring in the Leeds winger after discovering he was available to sign in January. He was part way through his medical at Seagrave on deadline day when the Elland Road club pulled the plug on the transfer.
That decision left City with just two established wingers in their squad, and now one may be facing time on the sidelines. The severity of Harvey Barnes injury is not yet known, but the England international could not put weight on his ankle after being forced off at half-time of the defeat to Southampton.
Chelsea are monitoring the fitness of several key players ahead of their Premier League trip to Leicester City.
Manager Graham Potter secured a potentially job-saving victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night. As well as turning around the 1-0 first leg deficit, Potter appears to have no fresh injury worries in the build-up to Saturdays game.
The Blues will keep a close eye on full-back Reece James, who was on the end of some rough treatment from England teammate Jude Bellingham and required treatment during the match. James, who has battled back from long-term injuries in the past, is a key player for the Blues and if there are any doubts over his fitness, he may not be risked with the Champions League quarter-final in mind.
Chris Sutton says Leicester City fans have been spoiled during Brendan Rodgers reign as he stuck up for the under-pressure boss.
After finishes of fifth, fifth, eighth and winning the FA Cup underRodgers, theFoxesfind themselves in a relegation battle, with Saturdays defeat at Southampton deepening fears the club could be playing Championship football next season.
Pundit Sutton, a legend at Rodgers previous club, Celtic, feels the criticism aimed at the City boss this season is harsh. The former Blackburn and Chelsea striker says Foxes fans should remember the success they have enjoyed since Rodgers took charge in 2019 and is worried that pressure may cost him his job.
